SUMMARY:The Warmest Wave: A Sound Meditation Journey
DESCRIPTION:In this nonstop world\, taking rest is a subversive act. Take rest with us during this one hour sound meditation journey with musicians Ezgi Karakuş and Amado Espinoza as they debut their newest album\, The Warmest Wave. Let your cares drift away for a little while in the gentle flow of traditional Peruvian and Native American pan pipes and flutes such as the quenacho\, mamaquena\, and sikus\, as well as the warm undulations of the cello\, a crackling fire\, and the harmonious undercurrent of the shruti box.\nBring a yoga mat\, pillow\, blanket and any other cozy items you might need to make yourself comfortable in a floor-sitting or reclining posture. We have a limited supply of mats and props for those who need to borrow them. Folding chairs can be made available upon request (with 24 hours notice please).\nWhen: Saturday July 15\, 2023 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm\nWhere: Inner Space Yoga 2711 Troost Avenue Kansas City\, MO 64109\nCost: $25 (MAM members enjoy a 20% discount by entering the code MEMBERS20 at check out)\nAll of our classes are scheduled in the US Central time zone. Pre-registration is required so we can plan accordingly. No refunds the day of the event or thereafter. We may choose to cancel in the event of inclement weather or under-enrollment – if this happens registrants will receive a full refund.\nAbout the Artists:\nEzgi Karakus was born in Turkey and began her cello education at the age of eleven. As a youngster\, she would spend hours playing popular Turkish songs on a toy keyboard. Now she collaborates nationally and internationally with artists from various genres\, including classical\, world\, jazz\, musicals\, and theater productions. She is currently co-director of Soundwave Academy\, a Professor of Cello at Missouri Western State University\, Emporia State University\, and a teaching artist at the Harmony Project Kansas City.\nAmado Espinoza was born in Cochabamba\, the heart of Bolivia. From a young age he recognized a need to make music. He creates music that respects his folk traditions of the Andes Mountains while creating compositions that are sincere to his musical-wanderlust personality. Amado works as a solo performer and with his groups the Amado Espinoza Quartet\, Colectivo Yanquitl\, and Ayllu. He is a featured artist with Ensemble Iberica (Kansas City\, MO)\, Oil rock band (Cochabamba\, Bolivia) and guides musical meditations. He also makes beautiful instruments by hand from around the world.
