Molina.\nWHAT: A live performance showcase of artists raising funds for AIRR.\nWHEN: Thursday\, September 14\, 2023. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Performances at 6:00 PM.\nWHERE: 21c Museum Hotel (219 W 9th Street\, Kansas City\, Missouri 64105) \nA Nation In Exile is a series of events that brings together people\, artists\, and organizations from all walks of life to continue the process of healing our state of collective\, relational and spiritual (mental) exile. \nReturning to the Root:\nSitting at the intersection of Indigenous\, African and European relations\, Latine culture begins our journey toward examination\, reclamation and revival. Featuring performances by Amado Espinoza\, Jose Faus\, Marisa Grady\, Robert Bordeaux\, and Pedro X. Molina\, Returning to the Root will be showcasing Hispanic and Indigenous artists who turn an unflinching eye toward our collective and individual condition of exile or bask in the light of reclaiming home. This one day event will be in partnership with AIRR. 100% of ticket sales will be donated to AIRR\, who will also be able to promote and invite the community into their work. Returning to the Root will take place at 21c Museum Hotel.

Do not wear T-shirts or other items of clothing with profanity or inappropriate slogans.\nDressing up as a Native American is never appropriate. We ask that you refrain from making or wearing native masks\, headdresses\, or imitations of any Native Regalia. You will be asked to leave if you arrive in such costumes. This applies to adults and children.\nPlease refrain from negative thoughts or comments.\nFeel free to bring lawn chairs\, but do not place them in the performance area.\nNever touch a Native American’s regalia. If you feel the need to touch\, always ask permission\, and be gentle and considerate. Respect the personal space of all. You’ll find that most Native Americans are friendly and will answer your questions about their regalia.\nPay attention and listen. Listen to the directions and requests of others given over the microphone and one on one.\nRespect everyone\, non-native and native\, especially elders. Treat everyone with respect and kindness. Look out for children. Treat others as you would expect to be treated.\nAll Garden rules should be followed\, no pets and no tobacco use.\nUse courtesy and respect when photographing. The MC will let you know when it will be absolutely not acceptable to take photographs. If you would like a dancer to pose for you\, always introduce yourself and ask permission. If you are a professional photographer or artist and feel you may use the image in the future for a commercial project\, tell the dancer. Make sure it is OK with him or her.\nDon’t be afraid to ask questions and engage in conversation with vendors\, dancers\, singers and other participants. Enjoy yourself and have a great time!
